The Help I Have Needed to Transform My Career
I worked a lot of years in my career before I could answer the question, “What do you WANT to do with your career?” And I honestly thought that being able to answer that question was the toughest part.
Although it took time to figure this out, I have found that the hardest part is building and implementing the plan to bring my purpose and passion to life.
Transforming my career is pushing myself out of my comfort zone – taking more risks than usual and seeing new possibilities I never imagined. To do this, I have needed the support and encouragement of my family, friends, colleagues and network…and my own Coach.
Because of how critical the role my Coach has played for me, I have even more confidence in the power of coaching and the journey I am embarking on. I have first-hand experience of how coaching can help people reach their dreams and potential.
My Coach has helped me to:
· Dig into my fears and ‘blocks’ that have been holding me from making the changes. Thinking through ‘what’s the worst that can happen’?
· Make my own decisions by asking me thought-provoking questions…and then asking me to dig deeper.
· Open up and explore my emotions.
· Identify things I can do to help minimize the risks.
· Take accountability for things I commit to do.
· Develop my business and pivot to being an entrepreneur.
· Be patient and have self-compassion when I go back and forth on decisions.
· See myself through a different lens when she shares her observations and analogies.
My Coach is a listener and cheerleader and trust me when I tell you that she is not a pushover. She challenges me with the tough questions, sits in silence when I am pondering something, and she doesn’t let me off the hook when I try to change the subject.
Transformation takes time and practice – especially when it comes to changing thoughts and behaviors. There are days when I have setbacks and start to question if or how I can build a successful business. My Coach is there to help me work thru these times – and these setbacks are getting fewer and far between which tells me that the practice of shifting my mindset is working. And I can honestly say that I am loving this new challenge (more than I ever dreamed).
I am thankful for the trust and respect I have for my Coach. I truly believe that the partnership we’ve built is going to continue on – well beyond when I officially tap into her as my ‘Coach’.
